I should remove the ‘manager’ from that Preferred Social Bookmark Manager? poll, it’s about any social app that can bookmark a link online.

I must admit I was very ignorant, there’s a big difference between the word ‘social‘(lat. socius) which basically means ‘share’, ‘Bookmark‘ as with a book, which would mean keep a link, and ‘Social bookmark‘.

Now that I’ve tried both the above I’ve been trying to write a review, but they have so many features I decided to give them a post each. (Not all of them! Only the ones I tried and that I like!!!) Meanwhile here are all the online social services that can bookmark.

PS: Short message to the developers to whom it may concern, please put a link from your blog back to the software and always, always tell us if tags are comma or space separated, if we can register why can’t we un-register(close the account)? A table of features would be nice too, it’s the quickest way to see everything in a glimpse. – Thanks

Social services that can "manage bookmarks"

Note: I have updated, added some entries and features. Removed SearchFox as they have shut down (25 /01/2006). Have created a new section by separating public social bookmarks and semi-social bookmarks, services that only let registered users search.
For better visibility, I have added ‘* ‘ for those that can import, ‘ * ‘ for Liquid layouts, ‘* for the ones I like the interface.

  Some Features: Import/export, Case sensitive Tags, Bundles, Notes, Inbox, Boolean search, Search by file type, Post to other users, See who bookmarked, List of most popular, Copy bookmark from an other user and you can type in the crumb! …
  Tools: Bookmarklets, Tagroll and Cloud generator and the Play Tagger bookmarklet, #API available. Lots of toolbars, extensions, userscripts and bookmarklets made by users. Like these excellent Jalenack’s bookmarklet, John’s Lazy Sheep bookmarklet and the SWiK, that lets you save bookmarks anonymously. These all work in Safari. (see Pchere‘s list for more tools.)
